Project Overview
Working to improve and update The Department of Labor’s Job Corp web properties throughout the country. This project required us to conceptualize, design and develop the initial, nationally viewed Job Corps site and all associated 150 sub-centers sites. We were responsible for all online branding, user testing, user research, quality assurance and responsive cross-browser mobile testing.
It was designed to be simple yet manage to capture the attention of young adults ages 16-27. It had to convey a message of opportunity for those in our community who can’t afford college but still want to have a career. Parents, community members, and businesses needed to be able to visit the site and still find relevant information on the program. We successfully completed and deployed a custom CMS using Drupal.

Student Survey Assessment
Our project scope also included modernizing current student surveys into a mobile app with a back end custom CMS. We designed the mobile survey to be taken on a mobile device like a smartphone or a tablet computer. Our mobile optimized survey made it easy to read and respond to using a small touchscreen device with larger text and buttons that were easier to click.
Our Goal
There are a lot of elements to make a survey successful. At the end of the day, our mission came down to how to make a user willing to take the survey and committed to complete it. The survey has to be enjoyable in order to capture the optimal result that can be used for improving the program.
- Catch a user’s emotion and feedback quickly
- Make a user complete the survey with minimum effort & pain
- Design the least annoying approach to ask user to take the survey
- Design a custom format and mixed it with the traditional survey knowledge.
